4.2.10 - Sixtyfourwest to Share Stage with Augustana for United Way’s 10,000 Hours Show
Lexington, Ky. – April 2, 2010 – Sixtyfourwest, the college rock powerhouse band based out of Louisville, Ky., has announced that the band will open for Augustana as part of the United Way of the Bluegrass’ 10,000 hours show, held April 8, 2010 at 8 P.M. The show will be held at Buster’s Billiards and Backroom in Lexington, Ky.
The 10,000 Hours Show (www.10kHoursShow.com) is a unique celebration of service that takes the best parts of “normal” concerts – great bands, great atmosphere, great times – and makes them better – an all-volunteer audience, a community saying thanks and performers who care.
Tickets to the event are limited to the first 1,000 people to volunteer and register their hours online. Those who want tickets are encouraged to visit the UWBG site and register their estimated volunteer hours for the past year. (http://bit.ly/blkN8x) Volunteers must claim at least 10 hours to secure a ticket.
Sixtyfourwest released a self-titled EP in September 2009 which featured the single “That’s What Makes Her Kentucky.” Augustana has had several hits, including “Boston” and “Sweet and Low.” Augustana was chosen to perform based on a preference survey by UWBG volunteers in January.
